For more than an hour Fri friends, colleagues and clergy eulogized Mike Foley as an ardent family man, a quintessential and compassionate law enforcement officer and a surpassing athlete. Then it came time for Foley’s son and namesake to speak.

Michael Foley, eighteen took a few moments to gaze out at the hundreds of mourners at the Concord Pavilion. Then he contemplated the irony that a man who inspired such universal praise would consider himself not worthy of it.

He would have been the only one with such a reservation.

Apparently he hadn’t slowed down a bit.
