Antioch woman sees a treasure trove in trash

Published Friday March 10

She’s not an environmental activist by any means, but Jess Wendland of Antioch lights up when she comes across discarded aluminum soda cans, wires or glass insulators.

While et might see trash, she sees art.

“I find most of my materials at estate sales, yard sales, salvage yrds and thrift stores,” remarked Wendland, a 32-year-old Milwaukee, Wis. transplant, with the accent to prove it. “I’m not denying ever picking up things from the side of the road either!”

Wendland moved from the Midwest to Antioch 2 years ago with the person husband Stephen a chemical inventory specialist at Amyris Biotechnologies in Emeryville.
